The journal "Theoretical and Experimental Psychology" is a peer-reviewed academic periodical. The journal's founder, the Federal Scientific Centre for Psychological and Multidisciplinary Research (FSC PMR), is a major modern research centre for the study of fundamental and applied issues in psychology. The centre is the legal successor to the Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education. The journal was established by a resolution of the Academic Council of the Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education in 2008 and is published four times a year in print and online versions with Open Access.

The journal is a unique publication that combines the rich heritage of the Psychological Institute with contemporary trends in the development of psychological science. It serves as a platform for dialogue between generations of scientists, promotes the exchange of experience and knowledge, and informs readers on the key developments in the scientific community. Particular attention is paid to the publication of relevant research and the latest discoveries in the field of psychology.

The journal annually publishes thematic issues with leading experts in the field of psychology acting as guest editors. The journal adheres to high ethical and professional standards, follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), is guided by the Charter of the Federal Scientific Centre for PMR, and is published with the support of the all-Russian public organisation, the "Russian Psychological Society."

Materials including content which is prohibited by Russian law or violates the principles of the Ethical Code of the Russian Psychological Society are not accepted for publication. Adherence to ethical principles is mandatory for all participants in the publication process, including publishers, authors, reviewers, and editors. Adherence to these principles is intended to ensure mutual respect, conscientious fulfillment of duties, and the maintenance of the high standards in scientific publishing. The journal "Theoretical and Experimental Psychology" is included in the current List of peer-reviewed scientific publications of the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC), which publishes the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Science and for the degree of Doctor of Science in scientific specialties and related fields. The journal "Theoretical and Experimental Psychology" is included in Level 1 of the White List of the Unified State List of Scientific Publications. Publication of scientific articles in the journal is free of charge.

2. To promptly inform the psychological community about the emergence of new technologies, methods, tools, and results of theoretical and experimental research in the Russian Federation and abroad;

3. To clarify the connections between the experimental method and psychological theory and practice.
